Первые электрокардиостимуляторы были однокамерными и не обеспечивали предсердно-желудочковой синхронизации. Двухкамерная предсердно-желудочковая электрокариостимуляция начала применяться около 20 лет назад для восстановления предсердно-желудочковой синхронности у пациентов с атриовентрикулярной блокадой и ознаменовала серьезный технический и клинический прогресс.
