Нарушение структурной организации фотосинтетического аппарата у хлорофильных мутантов вызывает снижение активности темновых стадий фотосинтеза (активность РБФК), редукцию содержания восстановленных Сахаров и усиление катаболических процессов, в результате повышения активности Р-гликозидаз и интенсивной внутриклеточной вакуолизации (разделы 3.3.3- 3.3.4).
