Благодаря высокой чувствительности к поллютантам биолюминесцентные системы нашли широкое применение в качестве биотестов в экологическом мониторинге природных водоемов и медицинских исследованиях. Отклик биолюминесцентных систем на влияние поллютантов является интегральным и обусловлено сложным действием экзогенных соединений на биолюминесценцию.
