Эффективный поток массы межпланетных импакторов на поверхности Плутона и Харона будет существенно ниже, поскольку скорости ударников относительно обоих тел меньше, чем их скорость относительно Пионера-10. Скорость КА на расстояниях до 18 а.е. была около 13 км с-1, а типичная относительная скорость пыли (в предположении круговых кеплеровских орбит) — около Vi, np «18 kmc-1.
