В ходе элонгации в ранней транскрибируемой области а-субъединица может вызывать образование транскрипционных пауз, осуществляя связывание с последовательностью, напоминающей -10 область промотора в транскрибируемой ДНК, и кор-ферментом РНКП в составе элонгационного комплекса.
