Формирование климата Земли и его изменения непосредственным образом связаны с состоянием системы океан-атмосфера. Мировой океан участвует в глобальных циркуляционных процессах и играет ведущую роль в круговороте углекислого газа, а также биогеохимических циклах всех биогенных элементов.
