Волюмотравма легких и как ее частный компонент — вентилятор-индуцированное повреждение легких, возникают на фоне непреднамеренного перерастяжения альвеол с развитием феномена поперечного напряжения (shear stress), разобщающего гетерогенные слои альвеолокапиллярной мембраны.
