В надотряд насекомоядных (Insectivora) объединяются шесть современных семейств отряда Lipotyphla (ежовые, кротовые, землеройковые, щелезубовые, тенрековые и златокрото-вые) и их ископаемые предки и родственники, древнейшие из которых появились в конце мелового периода.
