Фила ВХ Cyanobacteria является одной из наиболее архаичных ветвей эволюционного древа Bacteria. В ее состав входят оксигенные фототрофные бактерии QCyanobacteria), облигатные эндоцитобионты Glaiicocystophyceae (цианеллы), а также пластиды высших растений и зеленых водорослей (Castenholz, 2001).
