Генетические нарушения появляются уже на начальных стадиях развития опухоли и являются основными определяющими факторами малигнизации. Флуоресцентная in situ гибридизация (FISH) является цитогенетической технологией, которая используется для анализа хромосомных нарушений в исследуемых клетках.
