В этом контексте в качестве лигандов интерес представляют бис (имино)аценафтены (BIAN) или, по-другому, аценафтен-1,2-диимины с различными i заместителями у атомов азота. С одной стороны, такие лиганды. имеют чрезвычайно емкую я-электронную систему, способную легко принять до четырёх электронов: два на нафталиновую тс-систему и два — на диазабутадиеновый фрагмент.
