Аденозин и его производные играют важную роль во многих биохимических процессах. Аденозин и 2'-дезоксиаденозин входят в состав РНК и ДНК. Из тРНК выделено более 20 минорных адениновых нуклеозидов, таких как Мметиладенозин, N6-метиладенозин, 2'-Ометиладенозин, 2'-0-(3-В-рибофуранозиладенозин, N6-изопентениладенозин и другие.
