Способы удлинения отрезков поврежденного периферического нерва, разработанные и апробированные Н. Н. Бурденко (1942), Т. Hoen, J. Brackett (1956), Г. А. Илизаровым (1982;1992) имели целью восполнить дефект нерва без трансплантации, уменьшив повреждающее действие натяжения по линии шва.
