Поскольку в работе часто встречается термин «субдукция», соискатель считает необходимым сослаться на определение этого термина в «Glossary of Geology» (Bates, Jackson, 1987; Jackson, 1997). Субдукция определяется как «процесс поглощения одной литосферной плиты под другой».
