Фактически, глутаматная и дофаминовая системы тесно взаимодействуют как в регуляции нормальной кортикальной активности, относящейся к познанию, во взаимодействиях между префронтальной корой, средним мозгом и стриатумом, имеющим отношение к шизофрении, так и в контексте генетического риска заболевания.
