В зараженных хантавирусом макрофагах было обнаружено изменение плазмалеммы, которое проявлялось в появлении неглубоких многочисленных выемок, тогда как при инфицировании фагоцитов ВКЭ было установлено иное изменение плазмалеммы, характерное для специфической стимуляции макрофагов в ответ на внедрение инфекта (рис. 69).
