Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) — спорулирующая грамположительная аэробная бактерия, обладающая патогенностью для насекомых. Впервые данную бактерию из личинок тутового шелкопряда выделил японский бактериолог Ишивата и назвал ее Bacillus sotto.
