Can you name some of them?
P1: For example the BBC. It`s the British Broadcasting Corporation. is a British public service broadcaster headquartered at Broadcasting House in London. The BBC is the world’s oldest national broadcasting organisation and the largest broadcaster in the world by number of employees.

P3: I’m excited about Sport. It shows the best competitions and sport events.

P4: I watch TV only when interesting programmes are shown.
T.: That`s great. And now I suggest you to play a role game. You will do it in pairs. One of you will be an interviewer, the other one will be an expert in some interesting subject. So, your task is to make up short dialogues.
Examples: Pair1:
- — Good morning. Could you answer some questions about weather?.
- — How can I help you?
- — I am a journalist and I want to know what will be the weather in the nearest future. Could you tell me?
- — Well, the weather will be fine. But some days it will be raining.
- — Thank you.
- — You`re welcome. Pair2:
- — Hello.
- — Hello. Can I help you?
- — Yes. You see I am ajournalist from the British Broadcasting Corporation and I`d like to know if you know anything about this corporation.
- — Of course, I know that this is a British public service broadcaster headquartered at Broadcasting House in London
- — Thank you. I`ll make a note of it.
- — Sure, goodbye. Pair3:
- — Good morning.
- — Good morning. What can I do for you?
- — Yes, I want to buy a newspaper, but I can`t decide what to take. Can you advise me anything?

for it?
- — Thank you very much. Pair4:
- — Hello.
- — Hello.
- — I need your advice.
- — I`ll help you with pleasure. What`s the problem?

sense of humour, respect your clients, be able to understand them and have a wish to help them.
— Thank you. I`ll take it into consideration.
T.: Well done. Thank you. And now I`d like to invite here some of you who have decided to tell about the Independent and the Guardian newspapers. They will share their choice with us.
(показывают свои презентации и рассказывают о выбранных газетах).
T.: Thank you. Class, were you attentive? You know your classmates. Think and say if the boys` personal qualities are good for their future professions.
(Обучающиесяхарактеризуютодноклассниковиделаютпредположения: P1: Dima is persistent,…I`m sure he will be a good …).
T.: Thank you. You are true friends. And now I want you to look at the screen again.
- (на экране появляется видео-ролик из отрывков новостей, на них люди рассказывают про профессию журналиста)
- (создание проблемной ситуации на уроке)
T.: I think you guess what profession we shall speak about now. P.: We`ll speak about the profession of a journalist.
T.: What do you think about this profession?
P.: People count on journalists to seek the truth, bring important stories to the forefront and hold people accountable for their words and deeds. In order to do this, responsible journalists must be able to follow the facts of a story, focus on what’s important and, after careful analysis, present the story without bias.
T.: Is it prestigious? (формулирование проблемы) P.: I think it is.
P.: It is well-paid.
T.: Why? Do you see a contradiction here ?(выдвижение гипотез).
P.: Yes. On the one hand, the profession of a journalist is important and it really is. On the other hand, not many people like them, so this job is very difficult and nervous, because the interviewer must remain calm no matter the situation is. This profession takes a lot of time, efforts, but the salary is high.
T.: This is a problem. You will think of it while making projects. Please, write your ideas on the sheets of paper. You will do it in groups. (продуктивное задание).
(обучающиеся в группах делают проекты, а затем выясняют, престижна или нет профессия журналиста).
T.: Please, show us the products of your work. (презентация проектов).
T.: Let us sum up all the ideas, thoughts, facts.
(на доске два столбика: advantages and disadvantages. (обучающиесяраспределяют слова: respect, joy, stress, hard work, reward, importance, salary, necessity, long holidays.).
T.: Thank you very much. Compare these two lists on the blackboard.
Which of them is longer and more impressive?(выражение решения) P.: There are more advantages than disadvantages.
T.: What does it mean?
P.: The profession of a journalist is very important no matter what.
T.: I agree with you.
T.: And now I would like to give you some popular newspapers and your task is to read them and tell your classmates what news are shown in these newspapers.
- (читают газеты и рассказывают о новостях из них:
- 1. Andy Murray rallies to overcome Kei Nishikori to reach semi-finals.
Andy Murray is in the semi-finals of the French Open for the fourth year in a row, exploding the myth, surely, that clay is his weakest surface. He is now consistent on all surfaces — certainly in big tournaments — and has a fighting chance of finally adding the title to those he has won at Flushing Meadows and Wimbledon. However, the world No1 — who arrived in Paris in ordinary form and unable to train properly because of a lingering cold — was briefly in danger of following the defending champion, Novak Djokovic, out of the tournament before beating Kei Nishikori in a four-setter that he began poorly and finished in style on Court Philippe Chatrier in a warm, still Wednesday afternoon.
Murray, who lost to Djokovic in last year’s final, won 2−6, 6−1, 7−6 (7- 0), 6−1 in two hours and 39 minutes to book a place in Friday’s semi-finals against Stan Wawrinka, who breezed past Marin Cilic in an hour and 40 minutes.
Murray said courtside: «I needed to put a little bit more pace on my shots. He was dictating all the points in the first set. Once I got a better rhythm, I was able to keep him away from the baseline and that made a big difference. Stan has played fantastic this tournament. I don’t think he’s dropped a set. I had to play one of my best matches on clay to beat him last year.» .
2. British Cycling asks Team Sky to quit their shared Manchester velodrome.
British Cycling will appoint a new head of medicine, split their medical team into cure and prevention units and create British sport’s first clinical governance committee to maintain the highest standards.
The measures are the result of an independent review of the governing body’s medical services that was prompted by UK Anti-Doping's investigation into allegations of wrongdoing within the GB team and its professional road cycling off-shoot, Team Sky.
That investigation is ongoing but it has already emerged that medical record-keeping has been poor, with treatment notes missing, confusion over who has been ordering medicine at the National Cycling Centre and why, and an absence of records to show when drugs have been dispatched to races.
Commissioned by British Cycling, the review was led by English Institute of Sport director of medical services Dr Rod Jaques and he said he was «delighted» his recommendations have been approved by the governing body’s board.
In a statement, Jaques said: «I found members I met with from the British Cycling medical team to be competent professionals, working to the best of their abilities within their current structures.
" To ensure athletes are served in ways that best support performance and allow professionals to develop, the review outlines reforms that will bolster both areas and ensure that British Cycling makes changes to ensure the highest standards of professionalism and care." .
3. Liverpool drop interest in Virgil van Dijk after Southampton complaint Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign Virgil van Dijk from.
Southampton and apologised for their conduct after they were reported to the Premier Leaguefor allegedly making an illegal approach to the Holland international.
Jьrgen Klopp’s side had appeared frontrunners to sign Van Dijk on Monday after the 25-year-old indicated Anfield was his preferred.
destination this summer, with Mamnchester City and Chelsea also believed to be interested. However, that provoked a furious reaction from Southampton, who.
immediately accused Liverpool of `tapping up' their player, who still has five years left on his contract at St Mary’s.
A statement from Liverpool on Wednesday apologised for their conduct and confirmed that they will not pursuing their approach for the former Celtic defender.
" Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs," he said.).
Заключительная часть урока. Подведение итогов.
T.: Well, class, thank you for good work. Let`s remember what we did at the lesson.
Cl.: We repeated the words, listened to the classmates, made projects, solved a problem, watched some presentations, spoke about different professions, made analisys of news, made sure that the profession of a journalist is important in our world.
T.: What mark do you deserve for your work? P.: Very good or excellent.
T.: Yes, you all get fives today. Look at the screen and write your homework for the next lesson. Write an essay about mass media (200−250 words). The lesson is over. Goodbye.
