T hese people may have trouble with the way their voices sound and their interlocutors may have trouble while listening to them. A language disorder may include the form of language, the content of language and, the function of language. affect children and adults differently. C hildren who do not use language normally from birth, or who acquire the impairment in childhood can have disorders of language.
Many adults acquire disorders of language because of stroke, head injury, or other diseases.
People with auditory processing disorder (APD) often do not recognize subtle differences between sounds in words, even though the sounds themselves are loud and clear. For example, the request «Tell me how a couch and a chair are alike» may sound to a person with APD like «Tell me how a cow and a chair are alike.» This is the so-called «word deafness.» People with APD typically have normal hearing and intelligence.
